Christmas time bucket list...

First of all, let me start by apologizing for not being on top of my blogaboutmydog game.
I've been in a migraine cycle now for 7.5 solid weeks. 54 days, but who's counting :( I have seen more doctors, had more IV medications, had more side effects from said medications, etc than I care to talk about right now...so I'm not going to.

I'm going to talk about something that makes me happy. A light at the end of this bullshit.
Christmas time.
I love Christmas. I don't get annoyed when people put up their trees before thanksgiving, I applaude those people! Good for you!
I watch Elf, and listen to the Pandora Christmas channels (when Chris isn't home,) and I'm straight up obnoxious about it.

This year is going to be tough. One...I'm sick. I'm not able to drive right now. And a lot of times the meds I'm on make just getting out of bed difficult. And Two, I'm not working.
That means less money to spend on stupid things and more planning.
Because of these things I decided that I needed a Christmas bucket list...otherwise I might miss something!

1. Put up both trees, the "regular," one and Oscar's
2. Get Oscar to cooperate for a Christmas card photo and get cards out on time
3. Make "Hanukkah sack," gift basket for boys by the first night of Hanukkah. (The history behind this is a whole other story/blog post!)
4. Take Christopher to see "Festival of Lights," at Bull Run Park.
5. Finish gathering materials, work with Christopher to make our homemade gift for everyone
6. Manassas city parade on December 7
7. Hang stockings
8. Decorate the porch, just a little bit
9. Mail a card and one book each to my sweet nephews in Chicago
10. ICE at the Gaylord hotel in National Harbor
11. Host ugly sweater/shov'unda party at mouse house
12. Bake Christmas cookies...maybe do a cookie exchange? That would be fun!
13. Try and get to Gloucester to see Christopher's family, and the lobster trap Christmas tree!
14. Collect pet food, toys, collars, leashes, etc to give to the Humane society for Christmas
15. Would love to go to Christmas Town at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, we will see.
16. Spend a million hours with family and friends until they are sick of me ;)
17. Christmas jammies!
18. Make new memories and traditions that will last for years to come with our little fam damily.

Where it all began...

Let's talk about where it all started with "blog about my dog."
I'm talking about a serious case of puppy love. More specifically, dachshund puppy love.
Nope, that's not Oscar...or one of his siblings, or any doxie he has ever met.
Here we go.

My parents have had dogs and cats since I was a baby. Sure, I liked them alright...but I didn't looooove them the way that my sisters did. I cried when we put our old beagle, Ringer, to sleep at the ripe old age of 14, but really I'd just pet them "hello," when I came home and go about my business. Erin and Hannah had these dogs in their beds, next to them on the couch, in their faces 24/7.

I lived at the firehouse for a bit. We have a member who lived alone, and he lived kinda far away. So when he came for weekend duty, he would have to bring his dog. She was small, and came when he called her, and didn't make a mess or bark...so everyone kinda grew to like Augustina. She was a silver dapple mini Dachshund. Because I lived there, I got to see her and hang out with her more than most, and she was pretty amazing. Not at all like a typical small dog.

Auggi had puppies that summer, and that was it...I was hooked. She was so tiny and had this huge round belly and maintained her cute little walk up and down the fire house hallways. One night the engine went out and I was lucky enough to be able to stay in bed and she sneaked into the women's bunk room and jumped right up onto my bed!

After those pups came, I wanted one so bad. Auggi's owner and I talked about it about a million times. Unfortunaltey I was still living in the firehouse, and try as I might, that wasn't going to change anytime soon. All of her pups went to different homes, except the black and white one...she still lives with her momma to this day! I saw their owner at a wedding in June and he showed me pictures!

So thats how all of this started. I was just a kid, working full time and going to nursing school, volunteering at night to earn my room and board at the volunteer firehouse...where I met a pup named Auggi and fell in love.
Loving Auggi lead me to finding and loving Oskie Roo, 3 years later, and being the crazy dog momma that I am who blogs about her dog.

Why we aren't blogging about our dog!

Just in case anyone is wondering why it's been almost 2 weeks without any news August Osc, Rexy or their humans...

Our top ten excuses!

1.) Emily's migraines are back and ready to party. Ugh. I had gone almost 11 weeks without a single headache before this cycle! That may not seem like long to you guys, but it's the longest
I have gone in well over 4 years! I am back to almost daily headaches and, unfortunately we been in the ER a few times. Hoping to get into the neurologist at UVA soon!

2.) Oscar Mayer has been sick :( Our poor little stinker. I posted about this earlier...he has a couple things going on. 1. He is not "concentrating" his urine. Meaning that it comes out of his body super light and diluted, as if he has drank a ton of water. His vet was not overly worried a out it, but we are keeping an eye on it. It could be from stress (hello Rexy!) And 2. He has had the nasty poops for like a week now. Ugh. We are unsure if he ate something nasty, or stress. I spoke to the vet this past Monday and she gave me instructions on some over-the-counter meds to try, and to come in if it gets worse. She thinks his 2 issues might be related and might all be from stress :(

3.) On a much happier note...we are going on vacation!! Christopher and I leave in one week for out epic California adventure that we have been planning for the last six months! I am a nervous wreck, as usual. I have list upon list upon list of what to pack, where to go, who to call in case of emergency etc etc. Chris has electronic gadgets for every leg of the trip from video games for the plane to cameras to special phone chargers. I simply cannot wait! This time next week, we will be mining for crystals in Palos, California! Crazy...right?

4.) My new job is tough. I've been in the medical field since I was 16. I've done just about everything in every field...but his job is extremely challenging and keeps me on my toes from 7 am until the minute I get to walk out the door at night. I really like it. I love a challenge. I also really like this very unique specialty. It's amazing to be able to help people who are in such excruciating pain! But at the end of the day, sometimes I barely make it to dinner, lot alone blogging!

5.) Rex. Oh Wreck it Rexy. He is just too much some days. He is go go go from the minute he opens his eyes in the morning until well after we go to bed at night! I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen him lay down in the month that we have had him. He just runs around the house all day. We may have to find this rambunctious dude a new home with room for  to run off some of this energy...it might be too much for us, and for poor Oskie.

6.) RIP to my laptop. The screen started flickering a bit back in April or so, then it started getting kinda dark and now it's totally black. Chris tried to fix it but its too far gone. I post now from his ipad mostly, and it takes some serious getting used to.

7.) Yard sale. We just had one today...in preparation fr that, I've been going through all of my clothes and shoes., as well as just about every box from my mom and dad's house that still had not been unpacked to find items to throw onto the lawn in hopes to make a sale. We did OK and only almost killed each other once this morning ;)

8.) Initials Inc. Most of you know that I am an Initials Inc Creative Partner. We sell monogrammed bags, purses, home items, etc. I've been doing it for just about a year now and it's a lot of fun, but can be a lot of work too. There are girls in my upline that make crazy money at it, and I only hope to be as good them some day! Our our new catalog launched on Thursday, so things have been a little hectic in my Initials world!

9.) Cleaning/unpacking/making this house a home. It's only been six weeks since we moved in...but I'd say that the house is coming along pretty well. I dig it.

10.) Yeah. I can't come up with a tenth reason. I'm just procrastinating pretty much
I just spent a few hours (off and on...many doggy potty breaks, laundry folding breaks, and a nap in between) writing this post and I could have written and scheduled at least 2 or 3 regular posts. But hey, at least you know hat we have been up to this week...right?

It's a blog...about my dog!

Hi I'm Emily and this is a blog...about my dog, Oscar,  and a little bit about me (when he allows.)

You will read more and more about us as time goes on, but Oscar is a 4 year old mini-dachshund. Silver dapple in color, one blue eye...one brown. He is pretty much a super hero. No, I'm not just saying that. I have migraines so bad that I have passed out several times. Who licks his Momma until she wakes up, and barks until someone comes? That's right. Oscar Mayer Man! He loves compressed raw hide, cantaloupe, sleeping in momma's bed and watching Judge Judy.

I am a professional boo boo fixer, I craft in my spare time and sell Initials Inc. I love like crazy, and sometimes hold grudges a little longer than I should. I love good peoples and good times. I miss my grandma every day. I love being a doggie-momma, but can't wait to be a real baby momma. I love to make messes. I hate cleaning them up. I have irrational fears of revolving doors and glitter.

I have a bad habit of blogging, and naming my blog after things that change. You can find my previous, kick ass writing/pics/projects at

www.RosenberghFam.blogspot.com where I wrote about being a young, newlywed, crafty things, etc. Most of the "happy" newly wed stuff was complete crap...so ignore that. This blog became obsolete when Oscar and  I got the HELL out of a very unhappy situation and came HOME!! to Virginia to be with the people we love!

www.JustwWhemandOsc.blogspot.com is where you can find the post-divorce blogging and crafting. Just me and the Osc man...livin' it up. I don't really feel that "JUST Whem and Osc" is really appropriate anymore, because we have so many important people in our lives now. We have my family, and we have Christopher...my mouse, my jellybeanz, my backbone! We love him, and he loves us.
