Ugly sweater awards

Every year at our crew's ugly sweater party, we have awards for ugliest sweater, most creative sweater, etc.
Last year I did awards on gold charger plates that I got from Walmart and spent HOURS cutting and gluing each letter out on the cricut.
I knew that shit wasn't going to happen this year. I had wanted something simple and cute. I was going to spray paint old trophies or make something to look like trophies out of crap I found at the Salvation Army, but I never got the time...so this is what I came up with. Simple and cute.

Ugly sweaters...

Ugly sweater friends...

Wes and Tina:

Pregnant Fryes:

Danielle and Naughty Stewie:
Komars:
Me and Optimus Prime Mouse.
Oscar post wrestling with grown men for chicken bone. UGHHHH!!

We LOVE ugly sweaters!! There is always a good mix of thrift store/grandma borrowed sweaters and "homemade" ones. I don't have that detailed pics, but this year, Christopher and I just threw ours together with stuff we had at home. Wes found his at Walmart. Danielle, Gioia, and Komar's were from thrift stores. Stewie....Oh Stewie. I dont even know. I think he said amazon. I hope not, for the love of God, there are children on amazon!!

I can't really do a tutorial on ours, because I don't have the appropriate pics. But just a quick run-through...
-Mine is a $3.99 hanes sweatshirt from Wal-Mart. I've had it for at least 4 years. I just liked the color and it was cheap. I had cut the collar off of it when I bought it, so it was very 80's and Flashdance-ish. But I needed something, and decided to use it.
-The large, red ric-rac was something that I had in my crap from the awesome ugly sweater that I made Christopher last year! I didn't even KNOW him! We had just exchanged a few emails and he said that he didn't have a sweater for the party, so that was my cue ;) I'm a dork, and if I can craft my way into flirting, I'm gonna!
-So I just hot glued it around the neckline. Then I cut out the reindeer with my cricut and laid it down as a stencil. I used black puff paint like this to trace him onto the sweatshirt and called it a day. It is in no way perfect looking up close, but it works. And it was REALLY comfortable, much better than a sweater!!

I have NO idea where I came up with the idea that Christopher needed to have a Transformers Christmas Sweater, but I did. I saw one on a website somewhere. Similar to this one but less lame. And I decided to try and make one. I had already purchased the hat for him for Christmas, so I guess I felt like it was a done deal.
-I got the Optimus Prime fabric on etsy for like $3 and cut him out in detail and hot glued him onto the front of a pretty inexpensive long sleeved waffle knit shirt from Wal-Mart. I think it was about $7. We did not get him a sweater or sweatshirt because he is always hot and didnt want him to sweat or be uncomfortable during the party.
-After Optimus was dry, I painted a Santa hat on him with the same puffy paint and let that dry overnight. Then I had some gold ric-rac and hot glued that onto the collar. Then I gave him his hat early ;)

Christmas time is here...

Merry Christmas to you and your from the mouse house!

We had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends, and Oscar Mayer.

We have tons of great new goodies and as our Christmas gift to each other and Oscar, we are moving ahead with paperwork to adopt him a new brother from the humane society. His name is Gremlin, and he is a year old. He is 25 pounds of fun and love. Pictures to follow.

Give the dog a bone...

Christopher and I met at Gioia and Komar's "ugly Christmas sweater," party last year...
So it was only natural that this year we hosted the party for our friends. We had games, ugly sweaters, hot chocolate with Baileys and Kahlua, a terrible gift exchange and a little incident with Mr. Oscar Mayer...

We had some great food and appetizers, including chicken wings. Chicken wings, particularly chicken bones make me a little nervous around this house. I have a little dog who loves trash. And chicken bones.
Chicken bones are so so so dangerous for doggies. They can break and splinter in their little bellies and kill them. They can twist and turn in their intestines and hurt them. Especially when they weigh 10.7 pounds :(

I yelled a few times, and put a bowl on the table next to the wings for bones. I kept reminding everyone I saw eating bones to put the bones in the bowl. Just like I do to Christopher whenever we get chicken!

Well, somehow, some way...a bone made it into the trash. And the dog got it. Chris and Daniel saw it, and tried to wrestle it away from him. Two grown men, chasing and wrangling a 10 pound dog. They got 1/2 of it, but he managed to swallow a part of it whole.

So we spent part of our party outside, trying to make him vomit it up as per the directions of the ASPCA poison control. Then we called the emergency vet. They said NOOOO, do NOT make him vomit it up, just feed him bread so that it helps him pass the bone fragments easier. Ugh.

So we spent the next few days watching him. Two days later he was out in the back yard screaming in pain and had to be rushed to the vet. My mom and I took him in, and they helped him pass it. Very unpleasant but he did it. Ugh. Merry Christmas Oscar Mayer.

Lets talk about the time I lost my mind...

About 2 months ago, when I was still fresh and new into this massive headache cycle...one of my doctors wanted to try a steroid.
I've never done well with steroids, but was willing to give it a try.
Things went from bad to worse.
I was so jittery and restless. I didn't sleep for 4 days. I don't even know what happened. I also couldn't stop moving my right leg/hip. It felt like it was crawling with ants or something.
Weird, I know.

Anyway. I guess during all of this insanity, I got up and went into my craft room and got an old canvas and some paints.
I am, by no means, an artist. I had the canvas because I wanted to do some sort of Pinterest project...and it failed. So it was just sitting there with some spray painted crap all over it. The paints were all different kinds from fabric pain to regular, house paint!
I told you, I lost my damn mind!

Well...this is what I did...

And its HUGE, like 30x20!! I was going to throw it away, but my mom wanted it. She said it was wonderful. Chris was taking pics of it, in case I did manage to sneak it outside and into the garbage. Gioia also wanted one...not this one, but her own.
I think they are all 3 smoking crack.
It looks like the most insane, drug induced mess to me.

The next night, I did some more, sane-painting. Still not artist quality...but definitely more sane!!
The last one is Rexy. I couldn't get the eyes right, so he has no eyes. But you get the picture.
Anyone else ever do some late night, insane crafting??
My sister once took Ambien...and she went to the garage and gathered up a whole mess of things and brought them to her room to make a boat. She didn't end up doing it, but she certainly thought she was going to! She even brought a flag!!
Crazy!!!

Screw you, Walmart

They must think everyone who has a tattoo is dumb.
We are not.
This is just SPF 30 with a fancy "tattoo" design on it, and Walmart is trying to sell it for $8 in a tiny 2 ounce bottle.
I repeat. I have tattoos, and I am not dumb, Walmart.
Try it again and I'm locking you in a shed with Frenchy!

Dino-mite!

There is a rediculous place near my favorite flea markets with HUGE fiber glass dinosaurs. And an octopus, a shark, and King Kong.
No, I'm not kidding. I kinda wish I was.
I used to pass it every time I drove back and forth from college.
Well, christopher saw it...and it was over...he had to stop.
He is a sucker for roadside attractions.
We actually had a lot of fun. I LOVE the pics of Chris acting all Dino-like. He makes me laugh, even when I really don't want to :)

Christmas Project

I made these last year.
They literally take about 3 minutes and you can make them with crap that you have around the house.
I got 3 different sized Styrofoam cones. They have the little ones at the Dollar Tree!
Then I just wrapped scrap fabric and ribbon around them.
I don't post exact instructions, you know me...just a pic and use your imagination and creativity :)

I also did some for Gioia that were all black and white with silver stars hot glued to the top...they were pretty fantastic!!
Use your brains! And don't spend any money! Just dig through your crap!

Mr. Grouch

Oscar's ornament for this year.
I thought it was fitting for Mr. Grouchy pants.

Action packed house!

Its not a secret.
Christopher has a thing for action figures.
And he is now taking me down with him.
When I met him, it was mostly transformers. And I had a (very) small collection of vintage playmobil figures, that mainly centered around all of the various Santas from around the world that I would display at Christmas ONLY.

Well. Since then...we have graduated to Lego minifigures. This started in Legoland.
Once we were at Target and they were out of minifigures.
So we found the Imaginext blind pack guys.
So now we have them.
Now they're taking over my kitchen.
I'm totally OK with this. We are grown ass adults, with a massive toy collection. Thats normal, right?

His favorite game...

Chili

Anyone else have an amazing chili recipe?
I have like 5.
I usually cant repeat the same one, because I always kinda wing it.
I really like this one in particular. It had chicken, and taco seasoning, and fresh corn, off of the cob...

I can't really give you a written recipe, because I don't have one. Its VERY loosely based off of something I found on Pinterest like 3 years ago.
But here are some step by step pictures, and you can try and follow along and let me know if you have any questions :)

(The last time we had a party, it was gone. I mean gone gone. I didn't even get ONE bite!!)

Jackpot!

...and the little Jaxpot is not amused!

We went to a place called Monkey Joes and they had arcade games. I hit the "jackpot" and won all of these tickets.
Someone was extra crabby and was not amused. Even when he got a ball as a prize.
He SAYS ball now. He is getting too big, too fast!!
