This video is mega cute! I don't care if you are typically a romantic-type or not!

My favorite? The dog. Naturally. "Say yes, Mum."

...But when we're bad (mostly me)

This P!nk song is more appropriate. The whole I love you so much that I hate you kinda feeling. I have a temper, and I say stupid mean things. I hate that about myself. I really must say though, Our p!nk days are few and far between, and 99% of the time start with a misunderstanding!

Our relationship therapist says to give him more cookies and everything will work out OK!

 P!NK, True Love
Sometimes I hate every single stupid word you say
Sometimes I wanna slap you in your whole face
There's no one quite like you
You push all my buttons down
I know life would suck without you

At the same time, I wanna hug you
I wanna wrap my hands around your neck
You're an asshole but I love you
And you make me so mad I ask myself
Why I'm still here, or where could I go
You're the only love I've ever known
But I hate you, I really hate you,
So much, I think it must be

True love, true love
It must be true love
Nothing else can break my heart like
True love, true love,
It must be true love
No one else can break my heart like you

Just once try to wrap your little brain around my feelings
Just once please try not to be so mean
Repeat after me now R-O-M-A-N-C-E-E-E
Come on I'll say it slowly (Romance)
You can do it baby

At the same time, I wanna hug you
I wanna wrap my hands around your neck
You're an asshole but I love you
And you make me so mad I ask myself
Why I'm still here, or where could I go
You're the only love I've ever known
But I hate you, I really hate you,
So much, I think it must be

True love, true love
It must be true love
Nothing else can break my heart like
True love, true love,
It must be true love
No one else can break my heart like you

I think it must be love

Why do you rub me up the wrong way?
Why do you say the things that you say?
Sometimes I wonder how we ever came to be
But without you I'm incomplete

I think it must be
True love, true love
It must be true love
Nothing else can break my heart like
True love, true love,
It must be true love
No one else can break my heart like you (like you)
No one else can break my heart like you (like you)
No one else can break my heart like you

When he's good he's very good...

This Uncle Kracker song perfectly describes life in the mouse hosue...
on a perfectly goo day!! We smile all day long, we still hold hands almost a year into this, we go on for real "dates" regularly. We keep each other in check.

You're better than the best
I'm lucky just to linger in your light
Cooler than the flip-side of my pillow (that's right)

Completely unaware
Nothing can compare to where you send me
Let's me know that it's okay (yea, it's okay)
And the moments when my good times start to fade

You make me smile like the sun, fall outta bed
Sing like a bird,
Dizzy in my head
Spin like a record,
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like fool,
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold,
Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile

Even when you're gone
Somehow you come along just like a flower pokin through the sidewalk crack
And just like that
You steal away the rain
And just like that

Don't know how I lived without you
'Cuz everytime that I get around you
I see the best of me inside your eyes
You make me smile
You make me dance like fool, Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Oh, you make me smile

Baby boy is sick :(

Osc has been the healthiest of pups for the last four years. He has had the occasional vomiting episode after eating something he wasn't supposed to (what dog hasn't?) but otherwise has never had to go to the vet except for routine check ups and shots.

In fact...when I went to have him neutered, they discovered that he had a little hernia that he never even let on to having! No pain, no discomfort! Just a little bump on his belly that they took care of while they were in there!

His ONLY complaint from our vet was that he was TOO HEAVY for his little doxie legs, but as soon as we moved back to Virginia, we fixed that right up and he has been a slim and trim 13.5 pounds ever since! Christopher called him "doggy jacked," because the boy is ripped!

Anyway, about three nights ago, he started peeing in the house! Something he has NEVER done! Another even when I brought him home at 11 weeks old! I thought he was mad at me about Rex. I tried to spend more one-on-one time with him and take him out to go potty by himself instead of taking that clambering idiot, Wreck it Rex, out every time, so that we could have some quiet walks like we used to....but he kept doing it!

I can tell he regrets it because he won't make eye contact afterwards and usually hide behind Christopher's chair.

The episodes are becoming more frequent now, and he is now jumping up out of our laps and just BARELY making it to the floor before he starts going now :( Today he didn't make it to the floor and peed ON me! WTH? Something is definitely wrong! Oscar Mayer definitely does not pee ON people! Especially not his Momma!!

You bet your ass I'll be on the phone with the vet first thing in the am.

Sorry for a long, drawn-out post with no pics, just worried about my little man!
Goodnight! ( er....morning? It's 0330...oops)

Lucky Day, Lucky house?

As some of you may know, Chris and I moved into this home on a STINKIN' hot day in May.

We were both sweating, and smelly...I honestly felt like i was going to pass out by the time that we got to my parents house for the last load that we thought we could possible manage for that day.

As I was carrying one last shoebox full of whoknowswhat? out to my car, I looked down in my parents yard, at the bottom of the driveway and I saw this! A four leafed clover! Crazy, right? I can't even remember the last time I found one, or even had the time to loo down and pay attention.

At this time, I was so tired, I was getting a migraine, and the tears came as I picked the silly thing and carried it into the house to show it to my mom. In true mom fashion, she said "OH! Well...that means good luck, in your new home, with your Irish boyfriend!"

He totally is Irish! I don't ever remember telling her that, but she just knows these things. Maybe its the fact that his last name is Murray and he sunburns from walking out to get the mail?!

So my mom, the artist, does what she does best. She goes into her studio and scrummages around for a bit. Comes out with this tiny black frame, a piece of black and gray patterned paper, and the key to our new place that I had just given her for emergencies. She framed up this little memento for us to remember forever. I'm so in love with it. I put it on my bathroom counter, so that I can see it at least twice a day, even if I do work allllllllday!

So now some of you may understand a little bit more of me...and why I'm always saving crazy things for future projects, or making things out of what others may think of as trash...you just never know! Hows that song go? "She get it from her momma!"

Now I gotta get to Home Depot and get Momma a new key since she used it in a project, though! ha ha

Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Frye!

I've known Daniel for 6 years. I was on the membership committee at our Fire Department when he applied. I immediately recognized his sweet, honest personality and willingness to help people. I knew he was there, and wanted to be there for the right reasons. I didn't waste any time pushing him through the membership process and I think we got him voted in the next Monday night or something crazy like that!
In the 4 years or so that followed that, Daniel and I got ourselves into a good bit of trouble, had some fun, and took care of a good 3/4 of the population of Manassas on an Ambulance at one point or another. That number may seem a little high to you, but we bother literally lived in the firehouse for an extended period, so its not too far off ;)

When I moved to Chicago, Amy joined the firehouse. Of course I heard ALL about her from not only Daniel, but Gioia and Matt! I knew if they thought that she was great and Daniel was ACTUALLY referring to a girl as his GIRLFRIEND...it must be serious! ha ha

Anyway, fast forward 3 years...and here we are...finally!! The Frye Wedding!! I absolutely love how everyone in our little group of friends had major parts in wedding planning, set up, take down, etc...even if we were not directly in the wedding party! I think Christopher and I made out like bandits, because we had Jax the day/night before the wedding and had to keep him cool, calm and collected. Lots of naps, playing in the air conditioning, and drinking tons of water to keep him hydrated since he would have to be out in the heat later. Then later, at the wedding, we were "on duty" for all 3 Komar boys. Heaven for me :) Not a job at all!!

Amy was (as we all KNEW she would be!) a beautiful bride, and everything went down without a hitch! We all had so much fun dancing in our boots until our feet couldn't take it anymore and drinking sweet tea and rum punch! Weddings can be SO much fun! My own wedding was such a drag! When and IF it ever happens for me again, I can only hope that it is half as much fun as Daniel and Amy's!! Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Frye!!

Here are my favorite pictures from the evening! Enjoy!

Sorry for the super picture heavy post...you just wait until we get back from California!!!Its going to be "blog about my vaca!"
Have a great weekend!!

With love, from Jax!

Jax and I made a little somethin' for his Momma for her birthday last week!
Obviously I stole the idea from pinterest, but it came out really cute!

I foot printed the little (big?!?) guy with black, shiny acrylic paint. I used both the left and right to make  "V" with them in the middle of a circular shaped plaque that I had already painted red.

*Just a tip...if you are trying to footprint a baby or in our case, 13-month old who would have NONE of it...have EVERYTHING ready!! Don't waste any time, have as many hands on deck as possible, and bring your object to the foot instead of the foot to the object if that makes sense?? Less pulling and tugging on their little limbs :)

Then I cleaned him up with wipes, put on his Buzz Lightyear Jammies and off to bed he went :)

The next day, I painted up some 2 inch letters that I got from Michael's, with the same black paint and glue gunned them on the sides of my "V," to spell LOVE.

In case there was any doubt, Gioia loved it! I can't wait until we have him next so that I can make one for our house!?! I wonder if I can involve the pups?

Tug

Osc got a new tug toy from Christopher's parents. He made short work of it, but had fun doing it! We are pretty happy to have him home!!
Happy 8 months to us.

Oscar's favorite freezer meal!

Since my old blogs had a lot of craftiness and cooking, you can bet this one will too...I'll just throw in a pic of the dog and then call it a day.
This is possibly one of the easiest, healthiest things we make in this house. It can be done for as few or as many people and you want, and can be made in a billion variations, I'm sure.

I go to BJ's and buy steak or chicken and cut it into cubes and marinate in teriyaki because that's our favorite, but again, do whatever you want!
Then I wash, and cut squash, zucchini, and sugar snap peas.
I throw all of the meat, veggies, and some extra teriyaki into a zip lock freezer bag, and then that bag into another bag just to be safe.
I usually make 2 or 3 of them each time I go to BJ's, and then I can pop one out of the freezer any time I feel like a quick and easy dinner. I dump the whole thing into a wok-type frying pan with a lid and just cook it until the meat is done. Sometimes I serve it over noodles or rice, sometimes we just eat it plain!
And the dog watches, patiently waiting for me to throw him a piece of steak...yeah right.

Wreck it Rex

Welcome home to Oscar's (not so little) brother...Wreck it Rex.
Unsure if this is a permanent soloution, as the boys are not getting along so well right now!
As I am writing this, we have had Rexy for 5 days. Things are better, but still don't seem to be the right fit. Christopher is in Atlanta for work and I am here with the boys by myself for the week (boo!)

Rexy (Formerly known as Harry Winston,) belonged to my friend Megan and her family of 5. They recently had to move into a smaller home and because she has 3 small children and a very large dog which they have had for 7 or 8 years, they could no longer keep him.
We have been talking about getting Osc a playmate for a little bit, because he makes it difficult for Chris to work during the day at home. He barks, whines, and cries to be played with and demands to be  held...and since he has to be on phone calls with clients, who don't want to hear my dog's big mouth, we thought having someone to snuggle up with and wrestle with  might help.
Oscar has not been an "only child" since he was 6 months old. This contributes to his neediness. I don't help...I baby him, and I always have. So shoot me. He is still the best dog ever...if you don't want to work from home! haha.
Osc is having some dominance issues, which I guess we should expect. Rex is a male, and bigger. Rex is also dumber than a box of rocks, so hopefully Oscar will figure this out and realize that he has NOTHING to worry about! Oscar also doesn't like to  play as rough as Rexy does. Osc didn't live in a house with 3 little kiddos and a German Shepherd, so yeah. Poor Rex, Poor Osc. Poor us.
We will figure it all out.
For now...I have a dog with 2 different colored eyes, and a dog with a mohawk. Eff yeah.

Baby Fever?

Oscar will not leave Jackson's toys alone...is he trying to tell me something?!?

America!

Wishing you a very Happy Independence Day, from our house to yours!!

*On a side note, as recently as Memorial Day...Oscar would fight me and try and chew off his patriotic bow tie! Perhaps 4 is the magic age of sanity for dachshunds? Hmmm...doubt it!
